NEVER AGAIN Means Nothing With Obama

Howard Galganov

If the American government through Barak Hussein Obama can CANCEL the American Constitution without so much as a “howdy-do” . . . what can’t or won’t this government be capable of doing?

It has come out that Obama’s administration, which we have to assume includes Obama himself, has offered a deal to the Israelis to supply Israel with special weaponry and assistance, if Israel were to promise NOT to attack Iran until AFTER the November 2012 election.

Imagine this – Obama wants Israel to risk a SECOND Holocaust, so that Obama would have a better chance of getting re-elected.

And now we are learning from Congressional questioning of Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, that America should not become involved in military action (Syria) without the permission of the United Nations.

I never thought I would live to see the day when the United States of America would take its marching orders from the UN.

When one takes a moment to think about Obama’s Healthcare Law that FORCES companies through their insurers to provide female birth control products, it opens a door that questions the LEFT’S mindset to the point of INCREDULITY.

Even though this law obliterates the section of the First Amendment that separates Church and State, IT GOES FAR FURTHER THAN THAT.

What kind of perverse mindset in government thinks that covering the costs of a woman’s sexual behavior should be born out by the private sector?

The idea that the government, ANY GOVERNMENT feels sufficiently empowered to control through FIAT the RIGHTS of its citizens, especially a decision to regulate the most PERSONAL aspect of individuals, tells me that there is no line whatsoever this Obama government is not prepared to cross.

So . . . if I was an Israeli depending upon the goodwill of Obama for my country’s very SURVIVAL, based upon Obama’s total DISREGARD for his own country’s most revered and foundational document, where would I begin to trust Obama for the survival of Israel?

But, it gets far MORE dire than just that - If Panetta is saying to Congress that America really cannot strike Syria without some kind of approbation from the UN, what would happen if Israel decides to go at Iran to save itself, in the knowledge that Obama has “Israel’s back” . . . but only if the UN approves?

And then there is Obama’s personal history of loyalty exemplified by his bus:

1 – He threw his “TYPICALLY WHITE” grandmother who raised him under the bus.
2 – He threw his beloved mentor . . . the self confessed America-Hating, White-Hating, Jew-Hating, Israel-Hating Reverend Jeremiah Wright under the bus.
Obama also threw his personal friend and political cheerleader the American TERRORIST Bill Ayers under the bus, just as he did to his original political financier, the imprisoned Fraud Artist Tony Rezko.
And then there’s this little thing about Obama blaming Israel for all the troubles in the Middle East based upon the building of Israeli apartments in Israel’s own capital. Not to forget that in Obama’s thinking, Israel should return to the suicidal 1948 Armistice Lines Obama refers to as the 1967 “borders”.
And now, knowing that Obama has NO REGARD WHATSOEVER FOR THE FIRST AMENDMENT, it begs the question then, as to what regard Obama would have for Israel’s survival, since he blames Israel for all the problems in the Middle East.
If Obama couldn’t care in the least for the FOUNDATIONAL FIRST AMENDMENT to the fabric of America – Why would anyone believe that he could give a damn about the survival of a country he only sees as a problem?
Based on these facts, not suppositions, but facts, can anyone believe that Obama would really have “Israel’s Back” if push ever came to shove?
Best Regards . . . Howard Galganov

Weekly News Wrap-Up 3.9.12

9 March 2012
By Greg Hunter’s
The big story was the meeting between the Prime Minister of Israel and the President of the United States on Monday.  Netanyahu told Obama in no uncertain terms that he was tired of waiting to attack Iran over its nuclear program.  Iran has said repeatedly it is for the peaceful production of energy, but Israel is not buying it.  Netanyahu did not announce it would attack but, also, did not mention a word of letting the sanctions work or diplomacy.  I think this was a very dark omen, and in my mind, Netanyahu was publicly putting the President on notice that an attack is going to be launched.  It has, also, been reported that Israel was requesting bunker buster bombs among other military hardware needed to carry out an attack.  (For more on the story, please click here and here.)
The Greek debt deal looks like it’s going to get done, but will it trip credit default swaps?  Is this deal really done?  What’s the possible fallout?  Who knows, but the European sovereign debt crisis is far from over.  (Click here to read more on the Greek debt deal.)
Super Tuesday turned out to be not so super.  Romney padded his lead, but the big headline to me was there was no knockout punch for any of the candidates.  Santorum, Gingrich and Paul are still in it to win it, and Romney is a very long way from getting the 1,144 delegates to clinch the GOP presidential nomination.  (Click here for the complete delegate count as it stands now.
Gold, once again, topped $1,700 an ounce, and with the monster deficits the U.S. is racking up, please do not expect the yellow metal to crash.  Many experts (who have been correct on the economy) think it is a great long term holding.  (Click here to check the spot price of gold.)
Finally, even though GM announced some layoffs because of sluggish Volt sales, it was chosen as the European Car of the Year.  It can’t be that bad.  (Click here for more on that story.)
There is no video for the Weekly News Wrap-Up as I am working on improving the quality of the segment.  Look for it next week with a lot better video.  Thank you for supporting

Gas Prices Be Damned… Obama & Senate Democrats Block Keystone Pipeline Again

Gas Prices Be Damned… Obama & Senate Democrats Block Keystone Pipeline Again

  by Jim Hoft

Americans all agree that gas prices are now big issue for the presidential election.
CBS Local reported:

But that didn’t stop Senate Democrats and President Obama from blocking construction of the Keystone Pipeline today.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell released this statement today following the job-killing vote.

“The Democrat-controlled Senate just turned its back on job creation and energy independence in a single vote by rejecting the bipartisan Hoeven-Lugar amendment. They rejected legislation that would have led to construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline and the thousands of private-sector jobs that come with it. At a moment when tensions are rising in the Middle East, millions of Americans are struggling to find work and millions more are struggling with the rising cost of gas, Democrat opposition to this legislation shows how deeply out of touch they are with the concerns of middle-class Americans. President Obama’s personal pleas to wavering Senators may have tipped the balance against this legislation. When it comes to delays over Keystone, anyone looking for a culprit should now look no further than the Oval Office.”

What’s he got? Obama’s recent record only looks good in comparison to his first three years

What’s he got? Obama’s recent record only looks good in comparison to his first three years

For Republicans mired in despair and Democrats awash in joyous disbelief, a note of comfort to one and warning to the other: There will come a time when the 2012 election will cease to revolve around the GOP nominating process and begin to focus on the accomplishments — or lack thereof — of the incumbent president.
The Republican Party has not conducted itself well over the past few months, to put it mildly. Andthe conservative movement has been far too easily diverted into unserious nonsense and pointless controversies. That may have helped the fund-raising pitches of some activist groups, but it has set back the overall cause of articulating the core conservative ideas in a manner that will win over people not already sitting in the pews.

Preaching to the converted is important, but in election years, the secret to success is evangelizing — broadening the message and giving it a chance to resonate, hit home and affect the political choices of people who don’t yet believe.
Conservatives have succumbed to the temptation to turn inward. It’s been unhealthy, and counterproductive — but there might be a silver lining in the fact that the Right is getting its ya-yas out now, many months before the election.
One virtue of the contraception lunacy, for example, is that since it happened now, it’s going to be old news later. And while liberals and the media are likely to do whatever they can to keep the “conservatives hate sex” flame burning, they’ll reach a point at which their manufactured outrage will start seeming like discomfiting glee — and backfire.
It will backfire not only because the hand will be overplayed, but because there will be another candidate and another party in the race — a candidate and a party weirdly invisible in the midst of all the GOP hijinks. That candidate is weak, and that party is damaged.
Unquestionably, the story President Obama has to tell now, in March 2012, is a bit better than it was six months ago. But then, it could hardly have been worse, after two months of ineffectual “pass this bill now” speeches about a misbegotten second stimulus proposal, which followed the debt-ceiling meltdown he foolishly thought would help him politically.
Not to mention what looked like a very real prospect of a dip into a new recession. That didn’t happen, thankfully, and there has been modest job and GDP growth.
But the recent successes of Obama’s fourth year only count as successes when you measure them against . . . his first three years.
If I had told you in January 2009 that the Obama story seven months before the 2012 election would be: unemployment over 8 percent, $5 trillion added to the national debt, a nearly $1 trillion stimulus package that both left and right agree was at best poorly designed and at worst an outright failure, gas prices rising above $4 a gallon and a health-care mandate of which Americans disapprove by a margin of 3 to 2, you would have wondered at the gift presented by the gods to the Republicans in the form of an easily defeated incumbent.
True, Obama gave the order to kill Osama bin Laden. But as a foreign-policy calling card, even that’s problematic. If there were another world-famous international terrorist monster who had designed the murder of nearly 3,000 Americans to be eliminated, Barack Obama might be your man. But there was only one. And can anyone doubt that Mitt Romney, in Obama’s shoes and with the same information gathered from the same courier’s cellphone, wouldn’t have given exactly the same order?
A re-election will be a validation of Barack Obama’s first term. That is, ultimately, what voters will have to decide they want to do. And he hasn’t made the sale — not remotely.

How does your state rate on 2nd Amendment? Jeff Knox praises 'losers' of Brady Center's national scorecard

Posted by BH 6:20 3-9

120307minutemanThe Brady bunch has released its annual scorecard rating states based on how strict their gun laws are. The scorecard is a very useful tool to help rights groups understand how their state compares to others on a liberty scale; more points = less liberty.   visit the Brady scorecard web site.
Alaska, Arizona and Utah have all achieved the coveted Zero Points/Zero Stars on the Brady scale and are now competing to see which state will be the first into negative numbers – which is possible through bonus points. Arizona and Alaska can reach a -2 point score by protecting carry rights on campuses of state colleges and universities. Utah already has such protections, but could achieve a -2 score by adopting constitutional (permitless) concealed carry as Alaska and Arizona have. Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota and Oklahoma all came in with just 2 points apiece and all have a real shot at beating the leaders into negative numbers with the right combination of reforms.

  • The Brady Center released this latest scorecard with much hoopla and heavy breathing, but their own data clearly shows that there is no correlation between gun control and criminal violence. Crime statistics vary widely – from high to virtually non-existent among the 40 or so states Brady ranks as “poor,” while several of the Brady’s highest ranked states have some of the highest rates of violent crime.
As a matter of fact, a full 25 percent of all violent crime in the U.S. occurs in the Brady’s top four states with the most severe firearms restrictions. Of course the Brady bunch and its political allies argue that the tight restrictions are a response to the high crime, but most of the restrictions have been in place for years, if not decades, and they have proven to be completely ineffective at reducing criminal violence.
Violent crime is a result of numerous factors, with poverty, population density, education, social and moral supports and drug and alcohol abuse being chief among them. While it is difficult to prove whether fewer restrictions on firearms results in less crime, it is easy to demonstrate that stricter gun laws do not reduce violent crime – or accidents or suicide.
Even if strict gun laws could deter violent crime in general, that would be outweighed by the immorality of denying citizens the basic right to protect and defend themselves, their families and their communities. These core rights cannot be justifiably discarded based on the bad behavior of a tiny minority of the population.
History and an endless array of scientific studies – and the Brady’s own simplistic scorecards – prove that gun control laws do not save lives, do not reduce crime and do not “protect the children,” despite the hoplophobic rantings of the Brady bunch and its so-called Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
Even their name is a lie. They do not campaign to prevent gun violence; they campaign to restrict lawful access to firearms and limit legal firearms ownership. I have never seen any Brady propaganda proposing or supporting initiatives that might actually reduce violence; only an ongoing crusade against gun owners.
The Bradys do serve a useful purpose however: They highlight the threats to liberty posed by hoplophobes and politicians who don’t believe the citizens can be trusted, and they give rights activists a better idea of how liberty is being subverted in various states.
This latest Brady scorecard shows that the vast majority of states are effectively combating those who would infringe on the right to arms. Forty of the 50 states scored 25 points or less, while 31 states scored 8 or less. Reports from state legislatures around the country indicate that scores will be lower next year. Virginia rights leaders are already celebrating an expected promotion to a “red state” on next year’s Brady map, as they will move down at least 2 points from last year’s embarrassing 12 to a much more respectable 9 points. They do acknowledge that they still have a lot of work to do, though, as better than half the states will still have lower scores.
We at The Firearms Coalition would like to express our thanks to the Brady bunch and their cohorts at the Legal Community Against Violence (another deceptively named anti-rights group, which actually compiled the data the Bradys used) for providing us with this valuable information and offering incentives for states to compete in this race to preserve liberty.
To see how your state stacks up on the liberty scale, visit the Brady scorecard web site.

Arpaio investigation: Obama might be Kenyan Records that could document status mysteriously missing

Posted by BH 6:15 3-9

Among the records missing for Barack Obama that would be available for an ordinary president are passport records, school records such as those from Punahou, Occidental, Columbia and Harvard, Harvard Law Review writings, scholarly articles for the University of Chicago, state bar association records from Illinois, Illinois state senate records, the marriage and divorce documents for his mother, his adoption records and others.
Now it has been revealed that the Cold Case Posse assembled by Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County, Ariz., cannot confirm yet that Obama was not born in Kenya and brought to the United States as a days-old infant for his birth to be registered in Hawaii.
The reason? Missing records.
Speculation has held that Obama actually was born in Kenya, and as the son of an American woman and Kenyan father, probably would not have been considered under any circumstances to be a “natural born citizen” of America, as the Constitution demands for presidents.
It’s been revealed that the Kenyan government actually investigated that possibility earlier, without conclusive results.
Now Arpaio’s team, which was assembled to work on a volunteer basis after hundreds of constituents expressed fear that Obama was having his name put on the 2012 election ballot in Arizona using a fraudulent document, has reported that it checked to determine whether a young mother arrived in the United States from Kenya in the days after Obama’s reported Aug. 4, 1961, birth date.
The investigation report said that the records of the Immigration and Naturalization Service cards, which were filled out by passengers of that era arriving on international flights originating outside of the United States, cannot be found.
The investigation sought the records from part of the month of August 1961, and took a researcher to the National Archives in Washington, D.C., where other records of that time and from that time frame are stored.
NOTE: In case you missed the news conference of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s “Cold Case Posse,” you can view it here.
It is the records from the week of Obama’s birth that cannot be tracked, investigators confirm.
The Arpaio report said the hunt for airline passenger flight manifests for 1961 for foreign flights landing in Honolulu was an attempt to see if Obama’s mother returned at that time.
“The idea was that if Barack Obama had been born in Kenya, or any other location outside the United States, there should be a passenger record of the airline flight on which she, a new mother, returned to Hawaii with her newly born infant son,” the report said.
But “to date, investigators have not been able to locate the relevant airline passenger flight manifests for 1961.”
What was found were records of cards the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service required all passengers – including both U.S. citizens and foreign citizens – to fill out and file with passport control when arriving in Honolulu from a foreign city of origin.
The report said, “Microfilm records of INS cards for passengers arriving in New York on foreign files in 1961 have been found in the National Archives only recently; consequently these records have not yet been examined. Microfilm records of INS cards for passengers arriving in Honolulu on foreign files originating around the Pacific rim in 1961 have been examined at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.”
The microfilms that were found for the time period include “NARA Record Group A3573, Reel 184, INA records from July 28, 1961 through Aug. 7, 1961″ and “NARA Record Group A3573, Reel 185, INA records from Aug. 8, 1961 through Aug. 12, 1961.”
However, “Remarkably, all INS records for the week of Obama’s birth, Aug. 1 – Aug. 7, 1961, were missing from the end of Reel 184 and were not discovered anywhere on Reel 185, or any other microfilm reel in the record group,” the report said.
“The National Archives confirmed in a letter written on National Archives stationary that the INS records for foreign flights arriving in Hawaii during the week of Obama’s birth were missing, not only on the microfilm reels examined, but also in the primary database itself,” the report said.
That leaves open the door that Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was, as others have reported, visiting her husband’s family in Kenya shortly before the birth. Airlines at that time likely would not have allowed a woman expecting to give birth any day to board an extended international flight, thus creating the circumstances for Obama’s birth in Kenya.

Georgia Senate OKs drug tests for welfare applicants

Posted by B H 2:17 am3-9

ATLANTA (Reuters) - Adults applying for welfare in Georgia would have to pass a drug test before receiving benefits under a bill approved by the state Senate late on Wednesday.
The legislation, called the Social Responsibility and Accountability Act, is designed to ensure that welfare payments, called Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, are not diverted to illicit drug use."
The legislation, which now goes to the Georgia House, would not affect welfare payments to children. Under the bill, if a parent failed a drug test, children could still receive payments through another person designated by the state.
Two states, Michigan and Florida, have adopted similar legislation, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. The Michigan Court of Appeals in 2003 ruled that state's law unconstitutional. Florida's law has been temporarily blocked by a federal lawsuit.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia opposes the drug-testing requirement, the organization's executive director, Debbie Seagraves, told Reuters.
“Blanket drugs tests of any kind by the government are unconstitutional," she said.
Seagraves predicted Georgia would face a lengthy court fight over the legislation if it won final passage and is signed into law.
Republican State Senator John Albers, one of the sponsors of the bill, told Reuters he was confident the legislation would withstand any court challenges.
Welfare reform legislation passed by Congress in 1996 specifically allows states to require drug testing, he said. The Georgia bill is aimed at encouraging welfare recipients to stop using illegal drugs, Albers added.
“True compassion is doing what is best for people, not the easiest," he said.

“There’s no doubt in my mind and my investigator’s mind that this woman from the very beginning was what they call “run” by very powerful people. It’s not an accident that Elijah Cummings, Nancy Pelosi, and all these people got her and put her in a position to get her national exposure… I’m going to say, and I can’t prove it beyond a reasonable doubt but I think I will be able to, that this was run out the White House. The White House ran this.”

Coming Fast and Furious to America: Shariah Justice

Posted on March 8, 2012

by Diana West:
Associate Attorney General Tony West: ”I truly believe John ["American Taliban" Walker Lindh] will have a lot to offer after his incarceration.” How about a spot on Tony-West-sponsored “Al Qaeda Bar” at Justice?

Just as Koran-Burning Rage 2012 must not be seen as an isolated event, but rather as a cycle of sharia ascendancy, or, as indicated in my last column, another notch in our decline into dhimmitude, so, too, the advance of a leading member of the “al Qaeda bar” into the highest reaches of the Department of Justice must not be seen as just one more signularly noxious incident in the life of our nation’s capital. This, too, is part of the tectonic shift under way.
Over at Pajamas Media, J. Christian Adams lays out the gruesome details of the elevation of Tony West to No. 3 man at Justice. Adams explains that West (zero relation) and his San Francisco law firm have represented “some of the most radical Islamic terrorist causes, including the American Taliban John Walker Lindh.”
Adams reports that, in his new position, West, who has brought into senior Justice jobs other prominent jihadist defenders, will be overseeing detainee policy at Guantanamo Bay.
It’s either a mad, mad, mad, mad world — or, as I believe, it all makes perfect sense. We are being taken down from within due to a potent nexus of fear, non-rational thinking and subversion.
First, beginning on 9/12/01, the Bush administration effectively outlawed the way public officials may talk and write and ultimately think about Islam by formulating the de facto and, finally, in 2008, the practically de jure lexcion that delinks Islam from its institutional lifeblood, jihad. The effect is to foil all rational appraoches to thwarting the Islamic threat. Since President Obama came to office, he has simply, if enthusiastically, taken the Bush policy of de-linking Islam from jihad, both violent and pre-violent, to its logical conclusions.
Thus we see in 2010, for example, the FBI’s National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) inviting Kifah Mustapha, a known operative of Hamas, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, to a six-week, “citizens’ academy” inside the top secret installation.
Thus we see, also in 2010, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, NCTC chief Michael Leiter and FBI Director William Mueller unable to comment cogently when I had the opportuity to quiz them, one after another, on this egregious national security risk that they willingly incurred in the spirit of so-called Muslim outreach.
Thus we see in the summer of 2011 the abrupt cancellation of a conference at the CIA on Homegrown Radicalization due to pressure from a homegrown radical group, CAIR, whose co-founder Nihad Awad was identified by the FBI as a member of Hamas, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood,
Thus we see in Fenbruary 2012 MB-Hamas-linked CAIR strike again in pushing for the abrupt withdrawal by Gen. Jerry Boykin from a West Point prayer breakfast.
Thus we see, also in February 2012, the FBI “purge” hundreds of pages of anti-jihad material under the watchful eye of more MB-affiliated front groups.
Today we see the elevation of a leading member of “the al Qaeda bar” to a positon of control over Gitmo policy at the Justice Department.
The continuum … continues.
Notice anything else about these events?
They’re coming faster and more furiously.
Diana West is a journalist and columnist. Her book, The Death of the Grown Up: How America’s Arrested Development is Bringing Down Western Civilization was reviewed by Steven Emerson, who said it is “a must-read for anyone who wants to understand why … many in the West are apologetic when confronted with the excesses of radical Islam and what we need to do to win the War on terror. This is a phenomenal book that will truly alter the way you view society.”

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said in an interview Thursday that the Pentagon "absolutely" is preparing possible military options for a strike on Iran, in a rare public acknowledgment shortly after President Obama met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
He also noted that a U.S. strike would be more effective than an Israeli one.
"If they decided to do it, there's no question that it would have an impact, but I think it's also clear that if the United States did it we would have a hell of a bigger impact," Panetta told the National Journal.

White House denies report of deal for bunkering-busting bombs
Shortly after the interview was published, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney also responded to a report in an Israeli newspaper that claimed the U.S. offered Israel high-tech weaponry like bunker-busting bombs and refueling planes in exchange for a pledge to hold off on attacking Iran until 2013.
Carney said "there was no such agreement proposed or reached" in meetings Obama held, without appearing to comment on what other officials might have discussed.
"We have ... high-level cooperation between the Israeli military and the U.S. military, at other levels with other agencies in their government and our government, but that was not a subject of discussion in the president's meetings," Carney said.
Defense officials, though, told Fox News that no "sweeteners" were offered to the Israelis during Netanyahu's visit. One senior Pentagon official said "no promises were made, no deals were struck, but weapons were discussed -- as you would expect in a meeting with the defense secretary."
Panetta, in the interview with the Journal, said the U.S. has been examining military options regarding Iran "for a long time."
The comments come as Iran's nuclear program and the possibility of a strike by Israel dominate the discussion in Washington and Jerusalem. Obama earlier in the week used a press conference to urge the international community to allow more time for sanctions to work -- he repeatedly has cautioned against the "loose talk of war" in Washington.
Still, Panetta acknowledged that military planning is underway.
Carney later downplayed Panetta's comments, saying it is only a "matter of course" for the Pentagon to be preparing "contingency" plans.
"It would be irresponsible not to," Carney said.
Obama, in an interview last week with the Atlantic magazine, also said the "military component" is the final option the U.S. would consider with Iran.

AMMAN, March 8 (Reuters) - Syrian Deputy Oil Minister Abdo Hussameldin announced his defection on Thursday, becoming the highest ranking civilian official to abandon President Bashar al-Assad since the uprising against his rule erupted a year ago.
"I Abdo Hussameldin, deputy oil and mineral wealth minister in Syria, announce my defection from the regime, resignation from my position and withdrawal from the Baath Party. I join the revolution of this dignified people," Hussameldin said in a YouTube video.

FBI Director Robert Mueller on Wednesday said he would have to go back and check with the Department of Justice whether Attorney General Eric Holder's "three criteria" for the targeted killing of Americans also applied to Americans inside the U.S.
Pressed by House lawmakers about a recent speech in which Holder described the legal justification for assassination, Mueller, who was attending a hearing on his agency's budget, did not say without qualification that the three criteria could not be applied inside the U.S.
"I have to go back. Uh, I'm not certain whether that was addressed or not," Mueller said when asked by Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-Kan., about a distinction between domestic and foreign targeting
Yoder followed up asking whether "from a historical perspective," the federal government has "the ability to kill a U.S. citizen on United States soil or just overseas."

"I'm going to defer that to others in the Department of Justice," Mueller replied.
Indeed, Holder's Monday speech at Northwestern University seemed to leave the door open. While Holder speaks of Americans who lead al Qaeda overseas, the implications of the speech seem broad.
"First, the U.S. government has determined, after a thorough and careful review, that the individual poses an imminent threat of violent attack against the United States; second, capture is not

In today’s Washington Post, I argue that while electing a transformational conservative president may not be in the cards this November, stopping a transformational liberal president still is. The damage of a second Obama term could be potentially irrevocable. I asked a number of conservative thinkers what they feared most from a second term, and compiled this list of the top ten disasters that would befall America if Obama were re-elected this fall:
1.    Obamacare will not be repealed.
2.    The unprecedented levels of spending in Obama’s first four years will become the new floor, as America sets new records for fiscal profligacy and debt.
3.    Job creators will face massive tax increases, and more Americans will come off the tax rolls—resulting in fewer citizens with a stake in keeping taxes low and more with a stake in protecting benefits.
4.    Government dependency, already at record levels, will continue to grow.
5.    Four lost years in dealing with the entitlement crisis will become eight—digging us into a hole from which we may not be able to emerge.
6.    Obama, unworried about the impact of gas and electricity prices on his reelection, will finally wage the regulatory war on fossil fuels the Left demands.
7.    He will unleash the Environmental Protection Agency to impose crushing new burdens on U.S. business.
8.    His administration’s assault on religious freedom will go on and expand to new areas.
9.    The Defense Department will be gutted, with cuts so deep that America will no longer be a superpower.
10.    Obama could have the opportunity to appoint more liberal Supreme Court justices, ending the Roberts court in all but name for a generation.
This is, of course, not a complete list—not by a long shot. I’d be interested what readers and my fellow AEI scholars think: What’s missing from this litany of impending disasters?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The largest solar storm in five years is racing toward Earth, threatening to unleash a torrent of charged particles that could disrupt power grids, GPS and airplane flights.
The sun erupted Tuesday evening, and the effects should start smacking Earth between 1 a.m. And 5 a.m. EST Thursday (0600 GMT and 1000 GMT), according to forecasters at the U.S. government's Space Weather Prediction Center. They say the storm, which started with a massive solar flare, is growing as it speeds outward from the sun.
"It's hitting us right in the nose," said Joe Kunches, a scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He called it the sun's version of "Super Tuesday."
Scientists say the sun has been relatively quiet for some time. And this storm, while strong, may seem fiercer because Earth has been lulled by several years of weak solar activity.
"This is a good-size event, but not the extreme type," said Bill Murtagh, program coordinator for the space weather center.
The solar storm is likely to last through Friday morning, but the region that erupted can still send more blasts our way, Kunches said. He said another set of active sunspots is ready to aim at Earth right after this.
But for now, scientists are waiting to see what happens Thursday when the charged particles hit Earth at 4 million mph (6.4 million kph).
NASA solar physicist Alex Young added, "It could give us a bit of a jolt." But he said this is far from a super solar storm.
The storm is coming after an earlier and weaker solar eruption happened Sunday, Kunches said. The latest blast of particles will probably arrive slightly later than forecasters first thought.
That means for North America the "good" part of a solar storm — the one that creates more noticeable auroras or Northern Lights — will peak Thursday evening. Auroras could dip as far south as the Great Lakes states or lower, Kunches said, but a full moon will make them harder to see.
Auroras are "probably the treat we get when the sun erupts," Kunches said.
But there is potential for widespread problems. Solar storms have three ways they can disrupt technology on Earth: with magnetic, radio and radiation emissions. This is an unusual situation when all three types of solar storm disruptions are likely to be strong, Kunches said.
That means "a whole host of things" could follow, he said.
The magnetic part of the storm has the potential to trip electrical power grids. Kunches said utility companies around the world have been alerted. The timing and speed of the storm determines whether it knocks off power grids, he said.
In 1989, a strong solar storm knocked out the power grid in Quebec, causing 6 million people to lose power.
Solar storms can also make global positioning systems less accurate, which is mostly a problem for precision drilling and other technologies, Kunches said. There also could be GPS outages.
The storm also can cause communication problems and added radiation around the north and south poles, which will probably force airlines to reroute flights. Some already have done so, Kunches said.
Satellites could be affected, too. NASA spokesman Rob Navias said the space agency isn't taking any extra precautions to protect astronauts on the International Space Station from added radiation.
